Tim has performed a great deal over the years. Tim currently performs with his own big band, the Tim Fioravanti Jazz Orchestra. Also in the Southeastern Connecticut area, Tim has performed with the New London Big Band, Jump Swing Fever (Big Band), Boardwalk Big Band, Swing Party (8 Piece Small Big Band), The Peter Emanual Jazz Trio, and with the Without Thought jazz combo (made up of current and former Waterford High jazz musicians). Tim has also performed with the likes of Chita Rivera, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Sammy Kaye Orchestra, Jiggs Whigham, Roger Ingram, Philadelphia Pops, Delaware Contemporary Music Orchestra, Newark Symphony, and the Southern New Jersey Wind Symphony.
From Wilmington, Delaware, Tim completed his Bachelor of Music, Music Education Concentration in 1989 at the University of Delaware. Tim then went on to complete his Masters of Music in Music Education (as a Graduate Assistant of Bands) from the University of Connecticut in 1992. In 2013, Tim completed his 6th Year Degree (2nd Masters) in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. Tim holds certifications in Music and School Administration in the state of Connecticut.
While at UD, Tim was a member of the Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Band Drumline. Tim was the Marching Band Drum Major from 1988 to 1989, received the Snyder Marching Band Award, Theodore Berger Award, and the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Student Teacher Award. Tim was the first percussionist to ever win the Wilmington JCC Solo Competition.
Music Curriculum Leader - Waterford Public Schools, Waterford, CT (2017-Present). Tim is responsible for organizing, implementing, and evaluating curricular content and instructional materials for the district. Tim serves as the primary educational leader of the grade-level content and also assists the Assistant Superintendent in assessing the effectiveness of curriculum implementation.
Tim currently resides in Connecticut and serves as the Music Department Chair and Teacher at Waterford High School (1993-Present). In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Curriculum Leader role, Tim is also a member of the Waterford High School leadership team. As a teacher, Tim teaches the following courses at WHS: Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Choir (Doubles as the Jazz Choir), Chorus, Music Theory, and Jazz Improvisation. Tim frequently brings his Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Choir to the University of Delaware Jazz Festival.
The performing ensembles at Waterford High School have received many "superior" ratings at state and national competitions and festivals. Notably, in 2006, the WHS Marching Band won the US Bands National Championship for Class III. The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo have placed at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival. The Clarinet Choir was a CMEA honor ensemble that auditioned and was selected to perform at the CMEA Conference.
